some basics

Who are you? How did you hear about us?

Why ministry? Why make Dare to Bless the Love your home? Why now?

Do you presently participate in weekly worship? What communities are you a part of? What makes you multi-religious or inter-spiritual?

Please share the preferred contact info for one person who knows you well and over time, a close friend or family member with whom you’ve also shared about your call to ministry and what, if anything, should we be sure to ask them about you?

your program of study

What Divinity school are you enrolled at and where are you in your degree progress?

Tell us about your program of study, your life of practice, and your Divine relationship.

Please share the preferred contact info for one spiritual or religious teacher in your life and what, if anything, should we be sure to ask them about you?

your ministry

Tell us about your vision for your ministry, what does it do? For whom?

We’d love to know about your care philosophy: for one-on-one relationships, for groups/communities where you lead or serve, and for yourself.

All applicants and ordinands are encouraged to participate in therapy in a regular and ongoing way.  How do you presently participate with therapy (this may take myriad forms: counseling, spiritual direction, group therapy, etc.)? If you are opposed to therapy please share more about that.

What resources will support you in your ministry? *

* Please include financial resources – have you considered how your ministry will earn you income? Now is the time to start planning for this; we invite you to share your ideas and emerging strategies.

Please share the preferred contact info for one trusted colleague (you may both be students now, but in your leadership you hope and expect to have an ongoing, mutually supportive relationship with this person) and what, if anything, should we be sure to ask them about you?

please keep in heart & mind…

Your ordination process will include an internship and extensive one-on-one work with a mentor.  We try to keep our costs as low as possible, but in this one offering we do not slide the scale.  The cost for participating in the ordination process with DBL is $5,500.00.  We arrived at this amount by looking at roughly the number of hours involved for your mentor and other teachers offering their expertise and multiplying that by 50 because at a minimum we believe that these professionals deserve to be paid at least $50.00 per hour for their service.  Payment plans are available.  If you decide at any time not to complete the process you are still expected to complete any payment plan that you’ve begun until paid in full.

Once you are ordained, in order to maintain terms of good standing for ordained leadership with DBL, we require an ongoing minimum annual contribution of $150.00.  Additional terms of good standing will be shared with all prospective ordinands once accepted, if you’d like to peruse them now, please inquire.

We require a psychological assessment for ministerial readiness of all prospective ordinands.  This is not something you will “pass” or “fail,” rather this is a useful tool for discerning your gifts, your growing edges, your tender/wounded places, and your potential blind spots.  There is an additional cost for this service, determined by the provider. Scholarships are available, please inquire.
